Mwenda Thuranira, a prominent Kenyan businessman, recently opened up about the charming beginnings of his long-lasting marriage to Venessa Magiri, celebrating 22 years together.

How did Mwenda meet his wife?

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Mwenda shared how the couple’s love story started with a simple, yet memorable gesture: Magiri’s homemade chapatis.

Mwenda and Magiri first met as students at Utalii College in Kenya, but their relationship took a romantic turn when they both found themselves in the United States.

Mwenda had moved to the US to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot, and to support himself, he took on various odd jobs, including working at a petrol station.

Fate brought them together again when Magiri stopped by the petrol station with a friend to refuel.

Recognizing each other from their college days, they exchanged contacts and rekindled their friendship.

Mwenda runs into wife in the US

This reunion marked the beginning of a beautiful journey.

As their friendship grew, Mwenda frequently visited Magiri, who always welcomed him with her delicious chapatis.

“She made the best chapatis,” Mwenda recalled fondly.

The shared meals and deep conversations gradually transformed their friendship into a blossoming romance.

The couple eventually decided to get married, building a life together filled with love, mutual respect, and cherished memories.

Now, 22 years later, Mwenda and Venessa Magiri continue to celebrate their enduring relationship.

Mwenda celebrates 20 years of blissful marriage

TUKO.co.kr previously reported Thuranira took to social media to express his gratitude to his wife, Venessa Magiri, for their enduring love story.

In a post on Instagram, he showed appreciation for his wife's patience and the decision not to "eat fare" when they were still dating.

For the uninitiated, eating fare is a common term in the Kenyan dating scene where a woman asks a man to facilitate her visit only to skip the meeting.

Thuranira shared a photo of himself lovingly feeding Venessa, indicating they were still together after two decades because she availed herself for their first meeting.

"Not eating fare and being patient with a man for 20 years can lead to a deep emotional connection, build trust and loyalty," he wrote.
