During an interview with Radio Maisha, Brenda did not praise her stepfather, claiming he was abusive.

"I had a very rough childhood. People talk about stepmothers, but stepfathers are also a different case. I am not saying all, but I have a few friends raised by stepfathers, and they turned out to be incredible. You look at their relationship, and you envy it. But for me, it was very different. He was very abusive towards me and my mum. There were good moments, but the biggest percentage was full of problems, fear and anxiety," she said.

How many siblings does Brenda Michelle have?

Brenda noted she would wait for her parents to leave and search for her biological father's photo in her mum's stack of albums.

She said her mum had an archive of albums, as people loved to take photos and keep them in albums in those days.

"I was always looking for a photo of a light-skinned person with a pointed nose like mine, but I never found one. I never gave up. I would head to the albums and look each time my parents left the house," she said.

The actor also revealed she was not the only child but had three younger siblings who looked up to her.

Brian Wafula, a young man from Nairobi, said he understood the dynamics of being raised by a stepfather.

"I was raised by a biological father, but I also have a stepfather. I wouldn't say my stepfather is better than my biological dad, but he is a good man. He treats my mum with respect, and he also treats me and my brother well. I am glad I have two dads who love me," he told TUKO.co.ke.

Elsewhere, during her upbringing, Violet Angeshi always believed Kenneth Onari was her biological father due to his immense love for her.

However, her perception shattered when she accidentally overheard her parents discussing and learned she was a stepchild.

This revelation devastated her, but it only deepened her affection for Kenneth when she became pregnant at a young age.

Against societal expectations, he stood by her side, providing unwavering support and continued to do so until when he was involved in an accident.
