A Kenyan woman has taken a drastic step to ensure the accountability of her household staff after a concerning discovery in her kitchen.

The woman, who was on leave then, was shocked to find her house help using her gas cooker to prepare githeri, a traditional Kenyan dish.

The incident prompted the woman to contemplate what other activities her house help might engage in while she was at work.

Fearing further misuse of household resources, she decided to take action.

In a video shared on her TikTok account, @thelifeofirene, the woman revealed that her husband had purchased and installed CCTV cameras to monitor the activities of their domestic staff.

"Yesterday I found my house help in the kitchen cooking githeri on the gas cooker. I was baffled by her actions, considering I was on leave and present in the same house," she rote.
"I couldn't help but wonder what else she does when I'm at work. So today, my husband installed CCTV cameras. I've even been spoken to in Luhya as she protests," she added.

The footage also captured the woman and her children expressing amazement at the capabilities of the CCTV system.

They were particularly impressed by its ability to switch on lights and rotate to focus on various areas of the kitchen, providing comprehensive surveillance coverage.
