How Kenya is developing Lamu port

Additionally, a ship transporting three ship-to-shore gantry cranes arrived in Mombasa on April 7.

The cranes are expected to boost operations at Kenya's second commercial port and reduce congestion at the Mombasa port.

As a result, several regional leaders have praised Kenya for successfully receiving and operationalising the Ship to Shore Gantry Cranes for the first three berths at the Port of Lamu.

“This is a new breakthrough for the African continent’s connectivity. Congratulations Kenya,” said Dhenge Boru, State Minister for Transport and Logistics, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
“Wonderful, congratulations to Kenya. This achievement will go a long way to facilitate cross border trade among LAPSSET Corridor partner States and beyond,” said Brenda Phiri-Mundia, UNECA Principal Regional Advisor.
