Former TV presenter Kimani Mbugua's father has opened up about his son's academic journey and performance.

Kimani's dad noted his son was a firstborn, and the 28-year-old grew up in paternal love as the first child.

Which high school did Kimani Mbugua attend?

Kimani's father noted that his troubled son was born in Muranga, and despite having the financial capacity to take him to a good school, Kimani was enrolled in the village nursery school.

"He could walk to school and come back home. From then on, we took him to private schools. He did well in primary school, passing his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE)," the proud dad told Oga Obinna Live Show.

Kimani secured a slot at Njiiri High School, which his father noted is a national school.

He later relocated from Murang'a county and settled in Nairobi, where he attended one of the church schools.

What grade did Kimani Mbugua get in KCSE?

"He joined Karura S.D.A. Secondary School, and he scooped his A," Kimani's dad noted, surprising Obinna.

Kimani's entrepreneurial dad said his son only failed in agriculture, in which he got an A minus, but scored straight As in other subjects, including mathematics, physics and biology.

He said he proposed a law or medicine course to his son because of his excellent academic record.

Kimani declined his father's proposal, noting that his heart was in journalism. It took a while before his father was convinced and let his son follow his passion.

Kimani's father sheds light on son's struggle

Kimani's father also shed light on his son's struggle with bipolar disorder, which started after a series of concerning behaviours in 2020

According to him, Kimani's weird behaviour was first noticed by his then-girlfriend, who observed him talking incessantly to himself.

The episode was triggered by an event at Kimani's birthday party, where unknown individuals allegedly spiked his drink.
