Celebrated rapper King Kaka's mum has opened up about being diagnosed with Lupus.

What is lupus?

According to the Mayo Clinic, lupus is an autoimmune disease that happens when a person's immune system attacks their organs and tissues.

This leads to inflammation that can impact various systems, including the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.

The disease often presents symptoms similar to other illnesses, such as fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, dry eyes, and headaches, making it difficult to diagnose.

A distinctive sign of Lupus is a facial rash that spreads across both cheeks, resembling butterfly wings, although not everyone with Lupus experiences this symptom.

Despite the lack of a cure, Lupus can be managed with proper treatment.

When was King Kaka's mother diagnosed with lupus?

Speaking during a surprise party organised by her son to honour her, the proud mother disclosed that she was diagnosed with lupus and arthritis three years ago, a moment that she described as feeling like the end of her life.

The news was so devastating that she began to contemplate her mortality.

However, standing strong at 60, a milestone she once doubted she would reach, King Kaka’s mother expressed her gratitude for the support and blessings she had received.

Further, she appreciated her son, King Kaka, for organising such a beautiful celebration for her.

In her words:

"Thank you so so much, may God bless you abundantly. I just want to glorify God for everything he has done for me.I just don't have words to say but just to thank him for this occasion. I didn't know I would turn 60. In fact inwardly, let me just be open, I knew I would die before even reaching this day.
When I was diagnosed with lupus and arthritis, I came back to my house and started thinking, 'this is now death; I'm not going to reach 60, but now, since I was diagnosed with lupus, it's now three years. God is good all the time, and I glorify him."

Taking to social media, Kaka shared a video displaying the two houses in his home village.

As seen in the clip, the first was a stunning bungalow with red-galvanised roofing and walls partly painted white.

This was a house he built for his mother as an upgrade to the other, which he also showcased.

The second one was a semi-permanent house; the first one King Kaka ever built his mother.
