Evet, the youngest of four siblings, achieved 233 marks at Ombeyi Primary School, earning her a place in the reputable school.

However, her dreams have been on hold since the school year began, as her family’s financial struggles have prevented her from joining Form One.

Kisumu social media influencer Kelly Ken Rodgers told TUKO.co.ke that tragedy struck when her father, Stephen Odhiambo, died during the 2007/08 Post Election Violence.

Evet lives with her elderly grandparents

Her mother, Jacinter Akoth, vanished after his funeral, leaving Evet and her siblings in the care of their grandparents in Kachiere, Ombeyi.

Their mother's whereabouts remain unknown, and with no other recourse, Evet’s sisters chose to become domestic workers while her brother dropped out of school.

Evet's elderly grandparents, Fibi Ndalo Auma and Charles Auma Onyach, now care for her.

Already burdened by the challenges of old age, they cannot support her educational aspirations, leaving her to fate.

Kienyeji Pro Max joins Form One

In a more uplifting story, TikTok Alice Chebet, aka Kienyeji Pro Max, has joined Form One at Itigo Girls High School.

The content creator was in Form Two at a local school but missed classes and exams due to challenges with school fees.

She also had to endure a one-hour trek to school each way because there were no nearby educational facilities.

Chebet's situation changed when her fans pooled resources and contributed over KSh 160,000 to take her through school.
