A Kisumu court has ordered six board members of Migori county to vacate the office and allow the new team appointed by Governor Ochillo Ayacko's administration to take charge.

The board members were removed after a two-year battle to retain their positions.

What happened to Migori's public service board?

Their appeal to remain in office was thwarted as the court pointed out the lack of merit in their application.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Ayacko expressed a sigh of relief at the court's verdict.

"We are happy that the residents of Migori will finally get employed because we now have an active board in place," Ayacko said.

He issued a stern warning to county employees to remain vigilant against corruption, emphasising that the board would thoroughly investigate any instances of corrupt practices.

"This board will hire and fire if caught on the wrong side, so take caution. Nobody will be favoured because we have to deliver to our people," Ayacko cautioned.

The newly inaugurated board, led by chairman David Ochollah, pledged to serve the people of Migori with integrity and without bias, ensuring their commitment to fair and impartial governance.

"We are greatfull as the long-awaited day is here we shall serve the people of Migori equally and may God help us uphold integrity in our work" Ochollah said.

He additionally cautioned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent individuals seeking to deceive them with promises of employment in exchange for money.

The newly appointed board is anticipated to commence their official duties immediately.

County board under fire for issuing bouncing cheques

Earlier, a clique of education officers in Tana River had embezzled over KSh 26 million meant for bursary payments.

The officers in question were interdicted as further investigations into the scandal continued.

A new manager was appointed to be in charge of the department.

A lobby group is still pushing for further investigations into the matter, with a view to removing the entire board.
