Kitengela Floods: 2 Bodies Recovered From Seasonal Rivers As Search For Missing People Continues

Kajiado county - Heavy rains continues to cause deaths and destruction of properties across the country.

On Wednesday, May 1, families were trapped in their homes after seasonal rivers burst their banks following heavy rains in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

How many people were rescued in Kitengela

Apart from sweeping away houses, the heavy floods swept away people in various parts of the populous Kitengela town.

Kenya Red Cross dispatched its team to lead the rescue mission, particularly in areas along Deliverance Road, Balozi Road and New Valley.

"We are currently on the ground assisting families to move to safety in Kitengela, Kajiado County, following heavy rainfall.
Our teams are actively involved in helping households along Deliverance Road, Balozi Road, Baraka Road, Blessed Court, New Valley, Changombe, and the KAG area. Eleven people have been rescued so far. Efforts to reach others in this challenging operation continue," Kenya Red Cross said.

Sadly, two bodies were recovered from seasonal rivers in Kitengela even as the search and rescue mission for those affected by the floods continues, as reported by NTV.

Tourists trapped in Maasai Mara National Reserve

In other news, tourists were trapped in 14 Maasai Mara National Reserve camps after floods struck in Narok county.

The floods occurred after the Talek River broke its banks.

According to a statement issued by the Kenya Red Cross on Wednesday, May 1, the organisation, in collaboration with community members, has so far rescued 36 people by air and another 25 through an aqua rescue team.
