Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua and Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni were among the leaders who arrived early at the venue.

Kuria's absence was conspicuous, as he is among the few Kenya Kwanza leaders who openly supported the conference.

The CS is believed to have had a change of heart at the last minute despite claiming to be among the organisers of the historic meeting.

Limuru III Conference brings together professionals, businessmen and religious organisations from the populous Mt Kenya region.

Kuria to attend Limuru III

On Thursday, May 16, Kuria affirmed his attendance at the Limuru III conference despite opposition from Kenya Kwanza leaders like Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Kuria highlighted his longstanding involvement in past Limuru meetings, emphasising his role as a common thread between them.

According to Kuria, Limuru III's main agenda revolves around discussions on revenue allocation to the populous Mt Kenya region.

Kuria expressed scepticism about the appropriateness of a senior government official like himself joining others in voicing complaints at the conference.

Kuria faults Gachagua for summoning Karua

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kuria fiercely differed with the deputy president over the contentious Limuru meeting.

Prior to the convention, Gachagua asked the conveners to seek an audience with him, arguing that he is Mt Kenya's seniormost leader by virtue of being the country's second in command.

The deputy president seemed to suggest that such major political undertakings in the region could not go on without his blessing.

Differing with Gachagua, Kuria said all leaders in the region are capable of charting the community's course without having to be subordinate to others.

While acknowledging that Gachagua was his senior and boss, Kuria argued that he (Gachagua) erred in inviting Karua and Kioni to dialogue.
