Miguna Miguna Questions Military Team Probing CDF Ogolla's Death: "A General Cannot Just Fall"

A military team has been assembled to investigate the tragic incident that claimed the lives of former Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla and nine KDF soldiers.

The fatal accident occurred in Elgeyo Marakwet, where their helicopter crashed and burst into flames shortly after takeoff in the Kaben area.

In response to the tragedy, President William Ruto assured the public that the investigative team would conduct a thorough and transparent investigation.

"I have full confidence that General Omenda and the team he has appointed to make sure that all details are laid bare on the accident that took away the life of General Ogolla," he said.

He also pledged an end to extrajudicial killings and political assassinations in the country.

However, lawyer Miguna Miguna, speaking on Obinna's show on Monday, May 6, nearly three weeks after the accident, has expressed new concerns.

He suggested that General Ogolla's death might not have been accidental and could involve foul play either from someone aboard the aircraft or within the military.

"Let this thing be investigated professionally. I don't like the fact that the military is investigating it because what if he he was killed by a fellow military man? What if his deputy killed him? What if other military people killed him? What if thugs killed him and the military want to cover it?

A human being is not a dog. They cannot die just like that and a general cannot just fall from the air. So we have to ask all these questions because a CDF is secured just like a president," he remarked.

He further dismissed the family's conclusion that it was an accident, emphasising the importance of asking questions to prevent future incidents caused by negligence or deliberate actions.

Oburu Oginga calls for probe on Ogolla's death

Meanwhile, Siaya senator Oburu Oginga urged the late general Ogolla's son, Joel Rabuku, to allow the government probe the death of his father.

Oburu noted that the region had lost prominent people through political assassinations, hence the need for the investigations.

His sentiments came after Rabuku said that his father died in an accident and had good relationship with the government.
