Meru - A shadow of grief and sorrow has engulfed Imenti North as residents come to terms with the tragic demise of Pastor Moses Kirimi.

Kirimi was last seen alive on Thursday, May 9, around his church in Kinyagia before his mutilated body was found in his house.

A post-mortem examination conducted at the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital has revealed that Kirimi died of severe bleeding caused by deep cuts in his neck.

Kirimi was found with his eyes gouged out, painting an image of the pain experienced by the pain experienced by the cleric.

"According to the post-mortem, my brother's throat was cut here, cutting the main veins, and he died because of blood loss; he lost a lot of blood," revealed Kirimi's brother.

Who discovered Kirimi's body

According to his colleagues, the man of God was unreachable by phone, and efforts to locate him proved futile as his relatives couldn't either.

"Our brother was last seen on May 9. We tried reaching him via phone but all that was unsuccessful. Neither did his relatives find him," one of the preachers said in a presser on Thursday, May 16.

Three days later, a Sunday school teacher at the church discovered the body inside the preacher's rented house.

The teacher was attracted by a stench emanating from the room, leading to the grim discovery of his lifeless body.

Police were contacted and showed up at the house, which they broke into and found the body.

The cleric had also been robbed of his phones, tablets and laptop by his assailants before killing him.

Separately, Ikutha sub-county police commander Paul Omollo said five family members had been detained following the sudden demise of a Form Three student at Mikongooni mixed secondary school in Kitui county.

The student's lifeless body was found dumped by the roadside near a pastor's residence a day after the student was reported missing.

After the discovery, the investigating officers apprehended the pastor, his wife, and three children, linking them to the murder case of the young woman, who also happens to be one of their worshippers.
