Nairobi - Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has announced he will attend the much-publicised Limuru III conference.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, May 15, the outspoken CS maintained that he'd attend despite voices of opposition from Kenya Kwanza leaders.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah are among Mt Kenya leaders who've opposed the meeting.

Another high-profile Mt Kenya leader, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, disapproved of the meeting, arguing that what will be discussed can only be achieved through the National Assembly.

Kuria argued that he is among the few leaders who have attended the Limuru meetings that have shaped Mt Kenya politics in the past.

"I am the only common thread between Limuru I, II and III; you are talking about a period of 15 years between Limuru I and now," he stated.

What is Limuru III's main agenda

Kuria further pointed out that most of those at the meeting will be concerned about revenue allocation to the populous region.

The CS observed that it would be questionable for him, a senior government official, to be among those complaining at the meeting.

"It is a legitimate question and I think the bulk of the people who'll be at Limuru III will be justified to talk about one man, one vote, one shilling. What I cannot understand is people like me crying with them, yet I am a cabinet minister," Kuria added.

The proposed Friday, May 17, Limuru III conference by a section of Mt Kenya leaders has already shown cracks in the restive region.

Limuru I was convened by the late Njenga Karume, the then-chairman of the Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru Association (Gema), while former president Uhuru Kenyatta, then Deputy Prime Minister, convened Limuru II.

What was Jeremiah Kioni's warning to Mt Kenya

Separately, Jubilee Party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni alleged that Gachagua was used to secure votes.

Kioni argued that President William Ruto was using a section of leaders from Gachagua's backyard to fight him.

He urged the voters from the Mt Kenya region to be vigilant, alleging schemes to remove them from top leadership for the next five decades.
