According to her, she wanted to clear their rent arrears before she completed a house they were building in Utawala, where she moved in in August 2021, as per the agreement she had with her daughter.

Everything was going well until Nyambura received a phone call in Janury 2022, at around 4a from her daughter.

To her surprise, Nyambura's daughter had travelled back to the country a day before and was stranded in Nairobi CBD after her efforts to find a way to Uganda hit a wall.

They agreed that her daughter would go home that night, and she used a boda boda after she failed to get a taxi.
