How Nairobi woman lost KSh 150k to preacher's company

Anyone seeking help with the agency would part with between KSh 100,000 and KSh 150,000 as requisite fees.

The aggrieved woman revealed to Citizen TV that she paid KSh 140,000 at first and later topped KSh 10,000, all to help her kin get employment in Canada.

"I took a loan from my women's group. I paid for the fees but nothing is yet to come out. I paid KSh 140,000 and added KSh 10,000. They promised to call me later," she recounted.

She was left to service the loan despite the lack of value in it.

The woman called on the state investigators to help settle the nasty puzzle.

"It is so bad for an old woman like me to be left to pay the loan, yet I have other needs. They should return the money," she lamented.

Meanwhile, the detectives are still hunting down the cleric who has been missing since the scandal came to the limelight.

Police raided the recruitment agency's offices in Nairobi and carted away items, including computers and chairs.

Wanjohi is accused of having defrauded his victims, some of whom are congregants in his church, over Ksh 600 million.

Kirinyaga cleric arrested over KSh 2m fraud

In other scandalous news involving a cleric, a Kirinyaga pastor was apprehended after he allegedly swindled an Anglican Church of Kenya KSh 2 million, which was meant to purchase seats.

The church leadership had contracted Apostle Blessed Gilbert Kariuki and his spouse to deliver 410 seats to the church, but the 'Man of God' neither delivered nor showed up.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the man of the cloth swindled them their money before disappearing and efforts to reach him turned futile, prompting the church vicar to involve the police.

The man was later arraigned at the Wanguru Law Courts, where he answered to charges of obtaining money by false pretences.
