"So, my foundation has been conducting monthly tree-planting exercises since early last year. So far we have planted a total of 15,000 trees in 23 schools and 40 along Ngong and Nairobi rivers, in hospitals, local administration offices, and football pitches among others," she disclosed.

She detailed her collaborative efforts with schools, football teams, youth and women's groups, local authorities, and other targeted organisations.

Through her foundation, Faith Norah Lukosi initiated the establishment of the first tree nursery at Bidii Primary School, boasting a capacity to accommodate 5,000 seedlings.

When questioned about their seedling supply, she mentioned that they primarily purchase them independently but also receive support from the Nairobi county government and other generous benefactors when possible.

Norah donates 6-000 litre water tank

As part of her commitment to environmental stewardship, on the occasion of the national tree planting day on Friday, May 10, she generously donated a 6000-litre water storage tank to St. Pauls Primary School.

This donation was aimed at bolstering the ongoing tree nursery project facilitated by the school's 4-K Club.

"The water tank is for a tree nursery establishment project that we launched in schools where we are partnering with KEFRI to build the capacity of schools to establish and manage tree nurseries through the 4-K Clubs. The target is to set up 10 nurseries in our first phase," she added.

She clarified that the funds generated from these efforts will be directed towards providing financial assistance to underprivileged students affiliated with the 4-K Club, enabling them to pursue their post-primary education.

Additionally, on the same day, she spearheaded a community-wide tree planting initiative in Makadara, overseeing the planting of 1,000 fruit and indigenous tree seedlings across four different locations.

In another story, a young girl who warmed hearts with her love for nature during the national tree-planting day has been rewarded.

A good Samaritan offered to buy her school uniform as she hails from a humble background.

Her teacher disclosed that she is a grade one pupil who is staying with her grandmother, calling upon people to help the modest family.
