As heavy rains continue to pound and floods wreak havoc across the country, two people were on Wednesday, May 22, rescued by police and locals after floods swept away their car.

The two were attempting to cross a flooded curve section of the Sekenani-Narok road near Esupetai when the incident occurred.

According to a Citizen Digital report, the two occupants were rescued by members of the public as the vehicle remained submerged.

Narok South Deputy County Commissioner and the disaster committee team rushed to the scene and collaborated on the rescue mission.

Why did the police stop retrieving the Vehicle?

According to police reports, the exercise to retrieve the submerged vehicle was halted until the water levels were reduced.

Residents and motorists were urged to avoid flooded roads during this rainy season.

On Sunday, May 19, the weatherman shared an advisory alert on areas that will continue to receive heavy rains and strong winds.

Nairobi, Narok, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Kisii, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Kilifi, Mombasa, Lamu, Kwale, Tana River, and Kajiado are among the counties that will continue to receive rain.

Following the heavy rains, the areas are likely to experience flash flooding, potential floods, and poor visibility.
