For Zablon Osoro, things happened so fast and when they settled, his mother lay on the ground dead and his sister was nursing life-threatening injuries.

Young man stabs mum to death

While speaking on Cyprine TV YouTube channel, the young man said this came in the wake of their father's burial, a week ago.

"My brother came and asked, 'have you ever seen a movie?' He started dancing then asked our mum if he could sit and when she refused he started going around the house. I didn't think that he could hit mum but he finally did it," Osoro said on June 3.

"I hit him with a huge stick buy sadly, he had stabbed my mum in the chest. I ran to hold my sister, but he had already stabbed her nine times. I carried my mum to the hospital and was told she was dead," he said.

According to Osoro, their father was a watchman at Iriany Secondary School and together with his mum, who was a businesswoman, they worked hard to ensure that their kids had fees.

Sister's skyrocketing bill in hospital

"My eldest sister completed school, I am in Form One, my younger sister is in Grade Eight and and our youngest brother is in Grade One. I don't have money to take them to school and no one to help since our eldest sister is still stuck in hospital with an escalating bill," said Osoro.

Osoro pays KSh 4000 every term for school fees and per year it amounts to KSh 16,000.

Speaking about the incident, Osoro's uncle said that it was a bad omen. He said that after the young man killed his mother, he ran away but later on came back.

"When the villagers saw the young man, they descended on him with kicks and blows and finally killed him. Now the family has to bury two people only a week after burying their father," said Osoro's uncle.

Kirinyaga man arrested for killing mum

In another story, a 30-year-old man, Murimi Maina, was apprehended by the police for allegedly hacking his 56-year-old mother to death on Thursday, March 21.

Maina reportedly killed his mother, Jane Nyambura Maina, following a disagreement over coffee crops on a piece of land.

The suspect, a butcher by trade, warned his mother of severe consequences before using a machete to commit the gruesome murder.

Police Commander Moses Koskei confirmed Maina's arrest in Kagumo as he attempted to sell his phone to finance his escape.
