Businessman Brad Osumo has expressed his appreciation for ODM party leader Raila Odinga's patronage of his restaurant.

During a visit to Osumo's Big Fish Hotel in Westlands, Raila Odinga, joined by Azimio colleagues, including Narc Kenya's Martha Karua, enjoyed a meal.

On the Financially Incorrect podcast, Osumo disclosed that the esteemed politician gifted him KSh 100,000, not including their meal expenses.

He also shared this generous sum with patrons present during Raila's visit.

Osumo commended the former prime minister for inadvertently promoting his establishment, noting a surge in business and reputation following the visit.

"People started coming in large numbers after Raila Odinga's visit. They started seeing it as a serious shop. Raila gave me KSh 100,000. I didn't want to take the money, but I came to share it with some customers who saw him giving me money. That money didn't matter to me that much. I was just happy with him endorsing my business. Even if you didn't become president, you came to Big Fish," he said.

Osumo Brad defends Raila's remarks

As we previously told you, Raila received criticism from some social media users after saying that Osumo, who runs the Big Fish restaurant, deserved a better job.

Some people interpreted the statement as Raila looking down on informal employment, but Osumo differed.

In his understanding, Osumo said that Raila was addressing youth unemployment.

Osumo not looking for employment

Osumo said he was not interested in getting employed while narrating his success journey in a previous interview.

The biochemistry graduate tarmacked, sent application letters and attended unfruitful interviews for almost a year before giving up.

The Migori native decided to venture into business, and luckily, one of his sisters ran a side hustle selling fish at Roasters along Thika Road.

In December 2019, a Tweet advertising the business went viral, marking the start of Big Fish's success.
