Nyandarua - Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed there are individuals plotting against the Mt Kenya region.

During a thanksgiving ceremony at Mutonyora Comprehensive School in Njabini on Friday, May 31, the DP warned Mt Kenya residents about a bleak future.

The DP, who spoke in his native Kikuyu language stated the individuals were sowing seeds of disunity among Mt Kenya residents.

"I am not too clever, and neither am I a fool, there is something I know, and when I look keenly, wake up early and look, I see darkness, I see someone plotting against us, and our children being used to divide us," he said.

Analysts have argued that the DP is out to consolidate his influence in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region amid reports of a split in the ruling United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party.

What is Gachagua's plan to counter those against him

Gachagua turned to the elderly generation in the region, likening the politicians who he accused of being used to sow disunity to children.

The DP urged parents from the region to engage their children, arguing that divisions in the Mt. would end in unspecified problems.

"Parents, these are our children, talk to them. Tell them to be wary because the enemy of the Kikuyu, is a Kikuyu. Let us be careful, love one another," he stated.

Is Gachagua looking for another political party?

Elsewhere, Gachagua's office strongly denounced reports that he was eyeing a new political outfit outside the ruling UDA party.

On Wednesday, May 29, a local daily carried a story about Gachagua's resolve to forge his political path outside UDA, where divisions have continued to rock.

Gachagua had been in talks with The New Democrats (TND) for a political partnership with his supposed likelihood of quitting UDA due to frustrations.

Addressing the claims of his seeking to coalesce outside UDA, Gachagua's office said they were far-fetched.

Njeri Rugene, the ODP's head of communication, flagged the reports as unfounded, calling out a media house for spinning malice to the detriment of the deputy president and his office.
