William Ruto's key ally in Kitui County, MP Nimrod Mbai, has expressed dissatisfaction with the president's Cabinet members and executive appointees.

What did Mbai say about the cabinet members?

Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, who was unanimously selected as United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman in the county, expressed disappointment that individuals appointed by Ruto had not made any notable impact on improving the lives of Ukambani residents.

While speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he said the present Cabinet appointees do not measure up to former President Daniel Moi's ministers, such as Mulu Mutisya and Francis Nyenze.

The only cabinet secretaries from the Ukambani region are Tourism and Wildlife CS Alfred Mutua and EAC CS Peninah Malonza.

"Honestly, what are our people getting from such appointments? Instead of pushing for regional development projects, they're just settled on lobbying for relief food. We need to rise above dependency," Mbai said.

He accused the executive appointees in Ruto's administration of ignoring the pressing needs of the Ukambani People and of making insufficient efforts to fulfil the president's pledges to the region.

He further threatened to lobby for the replacement of current cabinet secretaries from the region.

MP Mbai claims Ukambani CSs are inaccessible

Prior to his current sentiments, Mbai had said that the CSs from Ukambani, Malonza and Mutua, were not accessible and accommodating to other leaders in the region.

Mbai, while speaking in his backyard, accused the two executive officials of distancing themselves from the people and local elected leaders in their backyards.

The MP claimed that he, together with other elected leaders from the region, had attempted, in vain, to contact the Cabinet Secretaries to discuss issues affecting the community.
