Former world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge is in a legal battle over land worth KSh 100 million in Eldoret.

Moi University's senior lecturer Joyce Komen sued Kipchoge alongside another celebrated athlete, Brimin Kipruto, and businessmen Peter Lagat and Felex Kipchoge.

According to a report done by Nation, the woman accused Kipchoge and his co-accused of buying the property without her approval.

In the lawsuit filed at Eldoret High Court, Komen alleged that the matrimonial land was sold without her awareness.

She accused her husband of selling the land to the four behind her back, despite her having equal shares in the land in question.

Eliud Kipchoge clears air on being linked to Kelvin Kiptum's death

Earlier on, the two-time Olympic champion opened up about how online abuses linking him to the death of marathon record-holder Kelvin Kiptum affected him.

In an interview with BBC Sport, Kipchoge expressed concerns over negative social media stories, fearing for the safety of his family and close friends.

In the interview, Kipchoge became emotional, breaking down in tears as he recounted sharing the false accusation with his mother.

The veteran marathoner painfully recounted receiving several messages, including threats targeting his family and even his career.

How Kipchoge found solace in his mother

During the same interview, Kipchoge emotionally disclosed that his mother played a crucial role in motivating him during that period.

The veteran marathoner said he had difficulty discussing the false accusation with his mother at first, but when he gained courage, he did. She told him to be strong and careful.

Despite going through hard times, Kipchoge revealed that his mother encouraged him during the month the country was mourning Kiptum.
