Renowned media personality Willis Raburu has announced his departure from Cape Media’s TV 47.

Raburu, who came on board the network just eight months ago, had been promoted to the role of Director of Digital Services and Innovation.

Why is Willis Raburu leaving TV 47?

In his parting words, Raburu expressed his deep appreciation for the collective progress made during his short tenure.

"As I bid farewell to the TV47 family, I am filled with a sense of pride and gratitude for the remarkable growth we’ve achieved together over the past few months," he wrote, as quoted by Mpasho.

What happened to Wabebe Experience?

The news of Raburu’s departure follows the discontinuation of his beloved programme, Wabebe Experience, on TV 47.

On Saturday, April 6, Raburu took to social media to inform his audience that Wabebe Experience, co-hosted with MC Gogo, would be going on hiatus.

He thanked fans for their unwavering support and assured them that the show would be back on the air.

“We want to announce that Wabebe Experience will take a season break. We sincerely thank our viewers for their continued support and enthusiasm. Rest assured, we are working diligently behind the scenes to return bigger and better than ever! Stay tuned for updates on our return! We love you and appreciate you so much,” he wrote on X.

Raburu’s journey with TV 47 began in August 2023, following a 13-year stint at Citizen TV.

Why did court order Airtel to pay Raburu KSh 6.5m?

Raburu sued Airtel Kenya for using his registered trademark without obtaining the required rights.

A chief magistrate's court ordered Airtel Kenya to pay the journalist KSh 5 million for illegally using his trademark "Bazu.".

From the suit papers, Raburu contended that he registered the trademark "Bazu" as Registered Trademark No. 116744.
