Research consultant Malaika Mahlatsi has been praised on social media for letting her friend, Thobekile Ngubeni, take a lucrative opportunity.

Malaika had been offered a prime chance to appear in a documentary but rejected the offer and proposed Ngubeni.

Why did Malaika pass the opportunity?

In a post on Facebook, the kind woman explained why she refused to accept the role.

Malaika says many people view her decision as a loss of opportunity, but she sees it as an honest admission of her limitations.

She knows the value of saying: "I'm not good enough for this - but I know someone who is."

"I see it as me being comfortable with the greatness of others. I've grown so comfortable with myself that I know I'm not the best person for certain things," she asserted.

What lessons has Malaika learned?

Malaika says that as she grows older, she accepts that there are people who are better than her.

Such individuals know more than she does and deserve specific opportunities more than she does.

Malaika clarified that she would have loved to be part of the documentary as the subject is close to her heart, but Ngubeni is better than her.

"She knows more than I do, and she's more deserving than I am. For this reason, it wasn't difficult to say: "Give it to her - she's better than I am," she wrote.

What was Ngubeni's reaction?

In an appreciation post, Ngubeni was over the moon to have been recommended by Malaika as her replacement.

She revealed that the milestone was her most excellent highlight of 2024, and she would forever remain grateful.

"It takes just one person to mention you in greater spaces and all you have to do is to show up and give it your all," she wrote.

Ngubeni promised to share an update once the documentary is ready for television.

Malaika Mahlatsi gets ex-wife allowance
