Dodoma, Tanzania - Four people have died after a fuel tanker collided head-on with a Coaster bus on Saturday, August 31.

The ill-fated bus was carrying family members coming from a wedding ceremony in Kahama District, Shinyanga region, Northern Tanzania.

What caused Dodoma road accident?

Dodoma Regional Police Commander George Katabazi confirmed the crash happened at midnight Saturday in the Manchali area of ​​Chamwino district.

Katabazi said the driver of the bus was not keen while overtaking another vehicle ahead of him.

Three people, including the driver, died on the spot, Mwananchi reported.

The fourth fatality was reported at the hospital.

Sixteen survivors, three minors included, were admitted to the Uhuru Hospital in Chamwino for treatment.

"I would like to advise road users to take extreme caution because this accident is the result of human error or negligence. The road is straight, there are no corners, and it is clearly visible, it means that the driver of the Coaster would have taken care when passing another car, he would not have had such an accident," the police boss was quoted by Mwananchi.

How many were killed in Kakamega accident?

The Dodoma accident occurred days after another one in Kenya.

Five people were confirmed dead following a tragic accident along the Eldoret-Malaba Highway.

The Sunday morning, August 25, accident involved an oil tanker, a tractor, and a Probox in the Murugusi area.

Lugari sub-county police commander Julius Meli confirmed that accident, saying two people survived the crash with serious injuries.

Meli said the oil tanker, which was travelling at a high speed, hit a tractor carrying hardcore building materials before ramming into an incoming Probox vehicle.

Who escaped after the Murugusi accident?

The oil tanker dragged the Probox for more than fifteen metres, and following the impact, five passengers in the Probox died on the spot.

Two others suffered serious injuries after they managed to jump out of the vehicle and have been rushed to Eldoret Hospital.

The deceased five were family members returning home after attending a kin's wedding in Busia.

Meli said the driver of the oil tanker was arrested, but the tractor driver and his passengers escaped after the accident.

The bodies were taken to the Webuye sub-county mortuary for postmortem.
