Nyong'o, who has been a staunch ally of Raila, welcomed the new role with enthusiasm, thanking the Azimio leader for his trust.

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, and the ODM Central Management Committee for entrusting me with the responsibility of Acting Party Leader.
"I deeply appreciate the confidence you have placed in me to oversee the party while Baba attends to his international duties," Nyong'o stated.

What is Nyong'o's message to ODM supporters?

The Governor reassured ODM members and supporters that the party’s core values and mission would remain steadfast under his leadership.

"To the entire ODM family across the country, I assure you that we will continue to follow Baba's path as we elevate our great party to even greater heights. Chama iko imara," Nyong'o added.

He reaffirmed that ODM would remain strong and resilient under him, signalling his commitment to pushing forward with the party's core agenda.

ODM denies reports Raila is retiring

Earlier, ODM party secretary general Edwin Sifuna clarified that Raila had not forfeited his position in the party's leadership, as a local newspaper had asserted.

A few weeks ago, the veteran politician announced that he would take a break from local politics to focus on his continental bid.
