How did William Ruto praise Baraton University?

In his address, President Ruto commended the university for staying true to its founding mission of delivering knowledge and skills while maintaining its strong Christian values, evident in all aspects of life at the institution. He also acknowledged it as the first institution to introduce a nursing degree course.

"This graduation marks 42 years of vision, dedication, and influence. It confirms that the church’s decision to establish this institution was visionary. It was the first faith-based university to receive a charter and to offer degree programmes in nursing and medical laboratory science," he said.

He encouraged the graduates to approach their futures with confidence, ambition, courage, integrity, and creativity.

MKU chairman writes off KSh 82m in fees

In other news, Mount Kenya University chairman Professor Simon Gicharu forgave KSh 82 million in fees for graduates with a fee balance.

Gicharu said he made the decision because he feared being 'greeted' in future by the graduates' children for holding back their parents' certificates.

He urged those who land jobs to make the payments as they would help boost the university's Scholarship Fund, which helps students with financial problems.
