Beatrice Chebet is set to compete in her first race since the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Kenyan star is coming off an Olympics in which she won a historic two gold medals, and she could be chasing a world record.

Chebet will be on the track for the women's 5000m at the Zurich Diamond League before running in next week's Diamond League final set.

The 24-year-old is aiming for her second Diamond League trophy this year and possibly a world record in the 5000m

At the Paris Olympics, she outsprinted her compatriot Faith Kipyegon to win the 5000m final and later outpaced Italy's Nadia Battocletti to win the 10,000m final.

She was the first Kenyan woman to win the 10,000m at the Olympic Games and just the second Kenyan to win a gold medal in the distance since Naftali Temu, nearly 60 years ago.

Moreover, she was the second Kenyan woman to win the 5000m at the Olympic Games, following in the footsteps of Vivian Cheruiyot, who did it at the Rio Olympics, per World Athletics.

Chebet returns to Diamond League

On Thursday, Chebet will run in the 5000m at the Zurich Diamond League, looking for her first win since the Olympics.

She will face Ejgayehu Taye and Tsigie Gebreselama of Ethiopia. Sifan Hassan, Kipyegon, and Gudaf Tsegay are the notable absentees.

In May, Chebet smashed the 10,000m world record at the Eugene Diamond League.

A world record could be on the cards in Zurich. Her personal best is 14:05.92, the third fastest time in history. Tsegay's world record of 14:00.21 is there for the taking.

Moraa cheers on Beatrice Chebet

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that Moraa loudly cheered for Beatrice Chebet as she stormed to her second gold medal in Paris.

The Kenyan 800m bronze medallist could be seen in front of a TV screen screaming her lungs out.

Chebet clinched the gold medal in the women's 10,000m final after outsprinting Italy's Nadia Battocletti.
