Born into a family that struggled with extreme poverty, her childhood was marked by hardship.

"We used to choma makaa (burn charcoal) to pay my school fees," she recalls.

She added that they would walk with their torn blankets whenever it rained because their grass-thatched house leaked.

Despite the challenges, Annitah never lost sight of her dreams and promised to improve her family's situation.

"Many men would not date us because of how poor our family was," she says.

According to her, people used to mock their mum for only having daughters at a time when girls were not valued.

The struggle was real, compounded by the fact that her father has a disability that confines him to a wheelchair, but so was her resolve.

What gift did Annitah give parents?

With the support of her loving husband, who has stood by her through thick and thin, she worked tirelessly to save and improve her family's life.

Today, Annitah is proud to say that she has fulfilled the promise she once made.

"God has answered my prayers," she says with a smile. "I've built my parents a three-bedroom house."

She added that as old as her parents are, she is glad to offer them a way to enjoy the rest of their lives comfortably.
