In a candid and heartfelt social media post, the caterer shared that the business deal turned out to be a well-crafted scam.

Feeling embarrassed, she chose not to expose the scammers publicly and only reported the incident to the Kasarani Police Station.

“I knew I wouldn’t get my money back; I just wanted to protect my documents,” she wrote, adding that the police were surprised by her resilience

Irene kept the incident private, not even telling those close to her.

She humorously recounted how she coped with the stress by spending an hour in the toilet, then coming out with a smile.

“Someone took all my savings after I got burned by a pan. If I survived that, then nothing can destroy me,” she said with a touch of humour.

Reflecting on her experience, Irene deeply empathised with those who lost millions in the recent heist by HIV activist Passy Ma Travor.

May God give them strength,” she wrote, highlighting the emotional toll such scams can take on victims.

Her post resonated with her followers, who commended her for being strong, with others sharing their own experiences.

Passy Ma Travor's shylock scandal

Passy Ma Travor is accused of swindling investors over KSh 300 million through a well-planned scheme.

She allegedly lured her victims into a sham shylock business, promising to pay them over 20% interest on money invested.

They deposited the millions into her accounts, which she blew away on a lavish lifestyle before disappearing.
