Busia: A student from Butula Boys High School has had a rough time only days after returning to school as he was made to crush a phone after sneaking it to school.

Why Butula Boys High teachers made boy smash phone

In a video shared by Ndung'u Nyoro, the young boy is seen with a hammer squatting near his phone. He first looks at it, not believing what is about to happen to it, before starting to smash it.

Teachers off-camera urged him on, and they gave reasons for not giving any other time punishment after he flouted the school rules.

"Crush that phone; I want to see powder. We have no time to send you some to get the parents; we deal with you right here. Hit it even if it belongs to your dad," said one of the teachers.

University chancellor punishes student in church

In another story, social media users reacted to a video of a vice chancellor punishing a student during a church service.

While the congregation, which included students, watched, the VC brought the lady forward and made her kneel and raise her hands.

Some internet users frowned at the vice chancellor's action, describing it as shameful, while others wanted to know her offence.
