Former Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has comforted a woman who sadly lost three kids in a gut-wrenching hit-and-run accident.

On Friday, September 13, six school-going children were knocked down by a speeding Probox at Wiitu Shopping Centre, nestle in Kitui county.

According to Ithitha Deputy County Commissioner Vincent Loctary Lomachary, the six students died on the spot, and reports indicated the driver fled the scene before later surrendering himself to Mutomo Police Station.

Out of the six children, three were siblings, and they were identified by neighbours, who rushed to the scene to help the victims.

Since then, the mother of the three has been devastated, and Ngilu went to visit her home and offer condolences.

"I am so sorry; we are together in this," she said.

Kitui mother of 2 accident victims recounts ordeal

In another story, Elizabeth Makau's two daughters Susan Mueni and Brigitte Vaati, were tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident on September 13, just minutes after leaving for school.

The sisters, day scholars at Kyoani Mixed Secondary School, were walking to school when they were struck by a speeding vehicle near Kyoani market.

Makau was devastated to receive news of the accident and rushed to the scene, only to find her daughters dead.

The tragic accident also claimed the lives of their four cousins who were with Susan and Brigitte, leaving the families in grief.
