Joho appeared concerned when he inquired about the source of a specific mineral sample in their custody, and the staff member guiding him could not explain.

"Stop playing. You're the ones supporting illegal mining. You can test for anybody who doesn't disclose the source. What nonsense is this? Someone can go do illegal mining and bring the minerals to you. You afterward test and certify for them to export," Joho complained.

He could not hide his anger when the staff seemed unaware of the sources of some of the minerals they received.

"What is your work? Who is in charge of this place?"

Joho then called for administrative action against a staff member, insisting that he must justify why he should retain his position.

He also demanded that individuals bringing mineral samples to Madini House reveal their sources, or those in charge would be held accountable.

Joho's appointment as CS challenged in court

Recently, the former Mombasa governor's appointment as CS was challenged in court.

On Thursday, August 22, a petition was filed at the Milimani Law Courts challenging the suitability of Joho to serve as a CS.

Genesis for Human Rights Commission argued in its petition that Joho's appointment was not in accordance with the constitution.

According to the petitioner, Joho allegedly lacks the requisite academic qualification to hold the office of Cabinet secretary.

Caleb Ngwena, a resident of Bamburi, Mombasa, asserts in a supporting affidavit that Joho is unfit for a Cabinet position due to his involvement in questionable land deals in Mombasa.
