"After much reluctance, I am deeply compelled to set the record straight. What DP Rigathi failed to mention was that the president was removed before him.The group was permanently deleted due to the highly classified documents being shared in WhatsApp groups," Itumbi's statement read in part.

Itumbi further stated that a security decision was made that no other group would be formed on the president's diary.

Gachagua explains why he misses Ruto's events?

Itumbi's statement comes after Gachagua opened up on why he's recently missed presidential functions.

Gachagua revealed he was unexpectedly removed from Ruto's WhatsApp group of the president’s official diary.

Gachagua noted that being excluded from the group has made keeping track of the president's engagements challenging.

He declared that he would only attend meetings he has been invited to, as he no longer has regular information on Ruto's itinerary.

The deputy president revealed that he, his private secretary, and his chief of staff had been removed from the group that regularly updates the president's itinerary.

Gachagua stated that the group is managed by the president or his comptroller, ensuring real-time coordination of his movements.

He further quashed the rumours going around that he has been intentionally missing the president's events.

However, Gachagua revealed that he has not yet addressed the issue with the head of state, as he initially considered it a minor matter.
