Alejandro Garnacho had a golden chance to double the lead late in the game but missed a sitter after a pass from Marcus Rashford.
After the full-time whistle, the Argentine winger was spotted interacting with Man United's coach, Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
It looked like the Red Devils would have to settle for a 0-0 draw after failing to take their chances, but new signing Joshua Zirkzee scored in the 87th minute to make it a dream Premier League debut.
