Fury In Kisii As Beloved Businessman Is Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances

Residents of Magena in Kisii county have taken to the streets to protest, demanding justice following the murder of a local businessman.

The man, identified as Mageri Geoffrey alias Jeff, was allegedly attacked by unknown men on Monday, September 9 night, and died while receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Citizen TV reported that the furious locals barricaded Kisii's main road, paralysing transport activities and businesses in the area.

However, one of the suspects was killed by the angry mob, who also razed houses belonging to two other suspects.

The locals expressed displeasure with the local authorities, noting that the cases of murder and thugs robbing businesses in the area had become rampant.

Alex Maobe, a resident, while addressing the press questioned the pro-activeness of the police in Magena.

“This is not an isolated case, it has only been three days since another resident was attacked and now Jeff is dead,” said Alex.

“Does it mean that the local authorities are not well-equipped to maintain security in Magena?” he posed.

Bundi Onyancha, a businessman in Bomachoge Borabu said:

“We want the DC to come and address this matter, we do not want the OCS because the murders have become too much.”

The Assistant County Commissioner of Kenyanya, Mbiuki Mutembei, asked them to select representatives to discuss their grievances with the chief and area Officer Commanding Station (OCS) to calm the residents.

He noted that reports from the meeting will be forwarded to the county security committee for further action.

However, the residents heckled him, putting his speech to an abrupt end.

Friends and Kenyans online have mourned the businessman, terming his sudden death a tragedy that could have been avoided

"Here as an activist, we need to proceed to the station for further clarification brothers," said Wycliffe Ngonge.

Memba Mabeya said,

"Just a few weeks ago we demonstrated to Kenyenya seeking justice for Sobu our ward has turned into a dead trap."

"This is a sad update. What was the motive of killing this young man? What becomes of this very young family? May he rest in eternal peace and may the killers never have piece in their lives." added Alphonce Onsongo.

Kisii residents pursue woman over stolen phone

In a previous incident reported by TUKO.co.ke, residents of Nyamataro in Kisii County pursued a suspect who allegedly stole a phone in a club.

In a shocking turn of events, upon being apprehended, the locals found out that the suspect thought to have been a lady, was a man dressed in women’s clothing.

He was later identified as Felix Okemwa, a 19-year-old who was impersonating a female going by the name Felister.
