Recently, Australian teenage sprint sensation Gout Gout, who has South Sudanese roots, went viral after a video of him destroying his opponents in a 100-meter race went viral.

A few years ago, the 16-year-old was compared to Usain Bolt and named his favourite sprinters.

The gangly sprinter clocked 10.29 seconds in March 2024 at the Queensland Athletics Championships.

He had a poor start, but he blew the opposition away as soon as he reached top speed. He won the race by some distance, and fans were amazed.

He was born in Brisbane to Monica and Bona in 2007, two years after his parents migrated to Australia from South Sudan.

Gout Gout compared to Usain Bolt

He was recently compared to Usain Bolt, the world record holder in the men's 100m and 200m. He gave a measured response and said he liked Knighton in 2022.

“It’s pretty cool because Usain Bolt is arguably the greatest athlete of all time and just being compared to him is a great feeling. Obviously I’m Gout Gout so I’m trying make a name for myself. If I can get to the level he was that would be a great achievement,” via Fox Sports.
“I like Erriyon Knighton because he is a youngster competing up against the best, and Noah Lyles because he is running crazy times,” via Athletics Australia.

The young sprinter will have his eyes on the 2028 Olympics and the 2032 Games in Australia.

Gout Gout gets rave reviews

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that Australian sprinter Gout Gout obliterated the field to win the 100m race in 10.29 seconds.

The youngster did not have the best start, but after hitting top speed, he was gone, and fans warned Bolt that his world record was in trouble.

Will Usain Bolt's record be broken?

TUKO.co.ke also reported that Asafa Powell, the former world record holder in the 100m, gave his take on Bolt's world records.

The former world champion is confident the 100m world record (9.58 seconds) will stand for a long time, but the 200m mark could fall.
