Kenya will face five-time AFCON champions Cameroon in back-to-back matches in October, looking to take another step towards qualification.

Against Namibia in South Africa, they survived wave after wave of attack, especially in the first half, to secure a 2-1 win.

Kenya hasn't played at the AFCON since 2019, and fans' expectations are high. Furthermore, the East African nation has played in just two tournaments in 30 years.

"A difficult game it was but we are happy to have won our first game away from home. We were a bit disjointed in the first half, but we were more energised in the second half," Firat said via The Star.

Kenya scored two spectacular goals against Namibia. John Avire scored a sensational free kick, and Duke Abuya scored a second following a swift counterattack.

Firat's warning to Cameroon

Kenya are top of Group J with four points, the same as Cameroon. Zimbabwe are third, while Namibia are fourth after losing both their games. Firat sent a warning to the Indomitable Lions.

“Do you think Kenya is an easy team? Cameroon should think about how they want to crack Kenya, we are not afraid of Cameroon, you saw the boys, how they played before against Ivory Coast, against Russia, against Qatar," via Flashscore.

Harambee Stars face Cameroon in back-to-back matches on October 11 and 15.

The former Harambee Stars coach, who led the team at the 2004 tournament, believes they have good squad players who can help them qualify.
