Lang'ata MP Jalang'o has hit back at his lookalike, Stanley Mulee Mutisya, who recently accused the politician of not fulfilling promises to support him.

Mutisya, who went viral after being recognised as Jalang'o's doppelganger, claimed that the MP had given him only KSh 1,000 after a 2021 interview and had since failed to follow through on promises to change his life.

How did Jalang'o respond to his lookalike?

In a sharp response, Jalang'o took to the comment section of the Nairobi Gossip Club and expressed disbelief at Mutisya's expectations, questioning why his resemblance to the MP should make him Jalang'o's responsibility.

"You know what I'm laughing at? This is unbelievable! That is, if you look alike now, you should be my responsibility," Jalang'o quipped.

Jalang'o also added that if Mutisya had focused on applying himself and working hard, he wouldn't need to rely on his looks for support.

"If you were looking like me too, by applying yourself and searching, you would not have done this interview! So if you are asked what do you do for a living.... Ooohh I look like Jalas!"

Jalang'o's response came after Mutisya publicly lamented his struggles, including difficulties in paying rent, despite his resemblance to the MP.

The issue has sparked a debate online about the expectations placed on public figures and the responsibilities they have towards those who resemble them.

Here are a few comments from netizens:

What did Stanley Mulee Mutisya study?

He completed his studies in March 2023.

The young man said he realised he resembled Jalang'o when he was eight years old after seeing some of his photos on Facebook.
