According to Mosiria, the church has been playing loud music from Monday to Sunday between 6pm to 9am.

Speaking toTUKO.co.ke, Mosiria narrated how some residents in the area were arrested and detained at Muthangari Police Station after filing a complaint against the church

"Complaints were lodged with the police at Muthangari Police Station on December 1, 2023, but instead of addressing the issue, the complainants were detained, while the church’s pastor continued to operate without consequence," Mosiria said.

Mosiria visited the church at night and confirmed that the neighbours had been suffering as a result of the loud music from the church.

What action did Geoffrey Mosiria take?

The chief officer disclosed that the county has issued a notice for the church to reduce the notice levels, failure to which appropriate legal action will be taken.

"As the Chief Officer in charge of the Environment, I personally visited the church and confirmed that, at 9pm, the noise level was excessive, despite only a small number of people being present. The residents' suffering due to this noise pollution is unacceptable," he said.

Residents narrated how, despite holding demonstrations against the church, no action had been taken.

"We cannot sleep. We have tried even demonstrating and have burned tires, we have even gone to the chief," a resident said.

Action taken against Quiver Steak House in Milimani

In other news, Nairobi County officials closed the well-known Quiver Steak House in Milimani due to noise pollution.

The lounge's location next to the Department of Defence, State House, and residential areas prompted Mosiria to take action.

Mosiria emphasised his commitment to ensuring that businesses do not disrupt others and mentioned that they have started taking action against those who ignored previous advisory notices to soundproof their venues.
