They told Citizen TV that they were not served with the comprehensive autopsy report.

Mary had worked for seven days at the time of her death.

Her distraught mother, Grace Awuonda, said the deceased had been the family's hope, having been the only one to have schooled up to the university level.

They said she was attracted to the Gulf by competitive salary.

"She was the only one we educated up to the university until she graduated. She had looked for job until she got that of a domestic help. She insisted on going as the salary would have helped her family," said the mother.

Mary's death took a devastating toll on her grandmother, who collapsed and died on learning about her death in Qatar.

"Mary's grandmother, after whom she was named, collapsed and died after learning about her demise. Right now, we are mourning two people in our family," said a family member.

The 30-year-old's body was repatriated to Kenya, but the family has yet to bury it as they insist on carrying out an independent autopsy to establish the cause of the death.

Woman dies in Saudi Arabia months after arrival

Still in the sorrowful news of Kenyans dying in the Gulf, a family from Baringo County was recently left in utter devastation and sorrow after discovering that their daughter, who went to Saudi two years ago, died just a few months after arrival.

Achieng travelled to the Middle Eastern country in June 2022 for what she thought would be an exciting opportunity to earn an income and improve her life and that of her family.

However, her family recently learnt that Eunice died under mysterious circumstances in October of the same year, which brought to an end their apprehension for their daughter's safety.

The deceased's mother told TUKO.co.ke that the last time the family spoke to Eunice was in August 2022, and she distressfully told them that her life was in danger.

Since then, the family held onto hope that they would hear from the young woman one day, but their hopes subsided as days turned into weeks and weeks into months.

The family faced a huge conundrum in raising the money needed to repatriate her body and also finding out how she died.

Michael Ong'alo, the deceased father, said her daughter's distressing call on that day left them in panic, and they did not hear from her ever again.

The family tried contacting the recruitment agency that took their daughter to Saudi Arabia and asked it to follow up and ensure her safety.
