Who can apply for ENABLE?

The ENABLE programme targets young Kenyan citizens aged 18 to 35, who must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized institution, focusing on the entire agricultural value chain, from production to marketing.

Sectors of interest include dairy, poultry, vegetables, fish, pasture, mushrooms, and more.

The recruitment will be conducted based on two categories: standard or accelerated incubates.

Applicants under the Standard Incubate category must have an annual turnover of less than KSh 500,000. Those selected will receive training and access to business development services to help and grow their enterprises.

The Accelerated Incubate category is for young agri-preneurs who already operate a business with an annual turnover of over KSh 500,000. This category focuses on scaling up existing operations.

The ministry noted that participants will receive advanced training and funding to enhance their business models and market reach.

How to apply

Interested candidates should submit their applications by filling out the form provided online. The deadline for applications is October 31, 2024.

Successful applicants will be notified and required to undergo a rigorous vetting process to ensure they meet all ethical and financial requirements.

Success in poultry farming

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported about Mary Nyadimo, a 30-year-old entrepreneur from Mumias who successfully invested in poultry farming in January 2023.

She initially invested KSh 200,000 to start her poultry farm, which included building housing structures and purchasing 300 improved kienyeji chicks.

Despite facing challenges like high feed costs and the loss of nearly 200 chicks due to inattention, Nyadimo remained determined and adapted to treat poultry farming as a full-time job.

Nyadimo earned over KSh 1.2 million in profits in less than two years, and advised aspiring farmers to start small and be hands-on to achieve success in poultry farming.
