Kenyans have turned to social media to mimic President William Ruto's nationwide tours, where he inaugurates various projects.

For instance, this week, the president visited Kisii County, where he launched several projects, including the tarmacking of the 23-kilometer Nyabigena—Nyamarambe Road, the construction of the Etago Fresh Produce Market, and the 244-unit Bomachoge Chache Affordable Housing project, among others.

How did Kenyans mimic William Ruto's project launch?

Kenyans who seemed intrigued by Ruto's project launch took to X (formerly Twitter) to creatively imitate the head of state.

They wrapped ribbons around various objects and cut them with scissors as a symbolic gesture of launching the items.

The trend, dubbed #RutoLaunchedIt, had many netizens in stitches due to the humorous nature of the mock project launches.

Some of the photos used to mimic project launches featured items like ugali, bread, an electric switch, and a cup of milk, among others.

For instance, a user named @ItsChanzu shared a photo showing four maize cobs tied with a neat ribbon next to a lit jiko, with scissors in hand. In the caption, he mentioned he was about to launch roasted maize for supper.

Another user, @iamJudah, posted a photo of a blue child's potty with white seal tape on top. The image also shows a hand holding scissors attempting to cut the tape.

He humorously captioned it as launching a new pit latrine.

Kenyans react as Ruto names ODM members to Cabinet

This is not the first time Kenyans are reacting to Ruto's actions.

Earlier, Ruto nominated ODM members, Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi and Askul Moe into his Cabinet.

Ruto's new nominees attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans, some of whom expressed displeasure with the nomination.

Other Kenyans supported the nominations, saying they represent the face of the country.
