  • According to the neighbours, they were alarmed when they heard the baby screaming at the top of his lungs, and they decided to rescue him

Jubilation erupted in Ogembo, Kisii county after concerned neighbours rescued a newborn baby from a pit latrine.

How was the newborn rescued?

According to a report by Citizen, the baby was believed to be just one day old and was found dumped in a pit latrine at a rental house.

It emerged that one of the residents in the rental houses heard the baby's cries coming from the latrine and called other people to come and help rescue the baby.

"The resident alerted others, and the community members quickly came to the baby's aid," locals told Citizen Digital.

The newborn was taken to Gucha Sub County Hospital, where medical staff worked hard to stabilise his condition.

Police officers rescue baby from pit latrine

In another story, a little baby who was thrown into a pit latrine by an unknown person kept crying and attracted the attention of a member of the public.

Police responded to the call for help at the Rioma Catholic Church and managed to rescue the little angel.

She was later taken to Marani Level 4 Hospital and handed over to the sub-county chief nursing officer in sound health.
