On September 5, Marya took to social media to announce that they had parted ways, leaving many speculating they were clout chasing.

"Hello, We are saddened to let you know that Marya Okoth and YY Comedian will no longer be together due to unavoidable circumstances. Thank you for your love and support through our union. We expect individual privacy from each one of you. Thanks," read her statement.

This was followed by YY coming out to clear the air. In an interview with Dr. Ofweneke on Lessons at 30, the content creator opened up about their failed relationship.

The father of one said that when people get into relationships, they should remember that they may not last forever.

“We are human, and breakups happen. It’s not always about forever, but making the most of the time we share," he said.

Are YY and Marya Okoth clout-chasing about breakup?

Speaking to YouTubers recently, Marya denied chasing clout, insisting that she and YY are no longer together.

"Neither I nor YY are known to be clout chasers. I meant what I posted. We are not a special couple. Every couple goes through their ups and downs. Even those talking about our relationship have exes. Our breakup does not make me a bad person or make him a bad person. We are still very good parents to our baby," she said.

Previously, the former Churchill Show comedian and his wife appeared on the Mic Cheque podcast, where they talked about their marriage.

The two narrated how they quickly settled together and started a family soon after meeting for the first time.
