Migaa Crash: Pain As Woman Gives Details Of Last Conversation With Husband Before Dying In Accident

A Mombasa-bound bus crashed in Migaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, resulting in 14 fatalities and leaving over 50 people injured on Tuesday, August 20.

Lilian Achieng', who lost her husband, Peter Onyango, in the crash, has painfully recounted the details of their final conversation before the tragic incident.

What did Onyango tell wife?

Achieng', who had visited Molo Hospital to identify her husband's body, shared that he worked as a mechanic for the Coast Bus Company.

While trying to hold back her pain, Achieng' said Onyango had called to inform her that the bus they were on had developed issues in Kericho, and he was trying to fix it.

"He told me the bus has experienced some mechanical issues and he was waiting for spare parts from Kisumu," Achieng said.

Onyango inquired if Achieng' had received the parcel he had sent earlier. She added that Onyango told her to take good care of their children before he hung up.

"He told me take care of myself and our children ," she said.

Other women who had also lost relatives in the deadly accident blamed the Coast Bus Company for transporting passengers in a vehicle with mechanical problems.

"They have to stop using old vehicles and then give bribes to traffic police so they can pass. By doing that they contributed to the loss of lives," one woman said.

Migaa crash survivors claim police ignored them

Recently, some survivors of the Migaa crash accused the police of being complicit in the tragedy.

The survivors revealed that the ill-fated bus had mechanical problems that were repeatedly ignored.

Lovin Ingati, who boarded the bus in Vihiga, revealed that the vehicle passed two police roadblocks without being stopped despite showing mechanical problems.

He stated that while in Kericho, one of them reported the matter to a police officer, who chatted with the driver before brushing off their concerns.
