Twenty-eight-year-old political activist Morara Kebaso continues to fear for his life following a Saturday night, September 20, car crash.

The businessman was travelling from Tharaka Nithi to Nairobi when an allegedly intoxicated driver lost control and swerved into his lane, colliding with his vehicle.

After the crash, the driver reportedly fled the scene, leaving his car behind.

Kebaso suspects that the driver's actions indicate a hidden agenda, especially given his recent efforts to investigate stalled government projects despite significant funding for their completion. He now claims that he feels his life is in danger after narrowly escaping death.

"I flew close to the sun but I am alive for a reason. Now I know I am on a clock," he said.

Has Morara's life been threatened before?

Weeks prior, Kebaso reported seeing an unregistered double cabin truck parked outside his home during the early hours of the Nane Nane march.

The vehicle's owners were unknown to him, which heightened his sense of unease. Since taking on the role of holding the government accountable, he says his family has increasingly feared for his safety.
