Tanzania - A heartbroken woman is mourning her daughter, who passed away following a tragic incident.

Grace Willison, the mum to the late Teresia, could not hide her tears as she narrated how her daughter died.

She could barely look up, and her sorrow could be seen all over her face as she grieved the young girl.

When did police open fire?

Willison revealed she is a mother of six, and Teresia was the firstborn.

"The day she died, she came home saying she had found clothes for a ceremony. She was taking the outfit to the tailor for fitting. She went twice for the fitting before she settled at home.
"We heard some noise and commotion outside, and she asked me if we could go out to check. We went. I opened the gate and saw people demonstrating and throwing stones near a police station. The chaotic moment forced us to get inside the house immediately," she told Ayo TV.

Not long after, Willison said, the agitated police opened fire in their bid to disperse the demonstrators from the area.

Teresia's last words before dying

The Tanzanian woman said she was in the living room while her Form Four daughter was in the bedroom.

"My daughter came to the living room and said, 'Mama', and dropped dead. The police bullets had penetrated the windows of her bedroom and hit her. She was shot in the chest and back. I could see blood on the floor. That was the last time I saw my daughter alive," Willison cried.

The hurting mother said she had high hopes for her dead daughter, who was in high school.

She hoped she would get an education and help the family, but the young girl died with her dreams.

Nairobi boy shot while defending friend

Separately, the National Police Service was embroiled in controversy following the death of 15-year-old Shadrack Oruko, who was allegedly killed by a policeman while defending his friend.

Oruko's family claimed he was shot while running with his hands raised, protesting the mistreatment of his friend Samuel Obai, who was handcuffed and undressed.

The family reported the case to Reuben Police Station but were reportedly chased away and dismissed by officers.

They alleged that since the incident, the officer was threatening them, and they feared for their safety due to the intimidation.
