Elizabeth explained that the 20 women had travelled in two vans to the celebratory event, where parents were honoured with gifts from various guests.

As their vehicle was just a few meters away from the scene, Elizabeth heard a loud bang and turned to see the van had crashed.

"The event was joyful and memorable. We were visiting a friend who had invited us for a parental blessing. The crash was traumatic, and I even lost my phone in the chaos," she said.

As of now, Elizabeth says the other women have been affected so much that none of them is reachable on the phone.

Jared Bikundo describes Nithi Bridge accident

Jared Bikundo, the driver of the other van which Elizabeth had boarded, described the harrowing scene, saying he witnessed the accident unfold.

Bikundo recounted that some vehicles did not stop to help, forcing him to flag down others. Tragically, in their efforts to rescue the victims, they found out that all of them died on the spot, as no cries or sounds were coming from the van.

"After crossing the Nithi Bridge, I saw the vehicle speeding uncontrollably. It appeared to have lost its brakes, veered into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle before overturning. I parked my van and watched the accident unfold as people screamed. When I attempted to help, the van’s doors were locked, there were voices, and the vehicle was severely damaged. All of them had died," Bikundo said.
