Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the Form Four student recalled the sorrow state in which she found her siblings at home.

"I was returning home from school in the evening and found the water was too much, and my siblings were all in the house alone. I could not help my siblings and save my education materials because of the muddy water that had drenched them. The only books I have are the ones I went to school with," she cried.

The student at Mogon Secondary School in Nakuru West sub-county, in Nakuru county, said it rained for hours.

When are 2024 KCSE exams due?

When she reached home, she found the water had risen to her siblings' waists and asked them to escape through the window while they waited for their mother.

"I have a sister in Grade 8 and a brother in Grade 5 who were in the house when I arrived from school. I do not know if I will continue with my education. I do not know what I will do. My books are from Form One to Form Four. I also had some past exam papers and textbooks that belong to the school," she wept.

The Nakuru girl noted she was wary of her education journey as the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams neared.

She noted she had only two months before the national examinations kicked off.

Nairobi child swept by floods

In another story, Stellah Kawira desperately appealed to Kenyans to help her reunite with her child, who was swept away by floods while returning home from school.

Kawira said she had been searching for her 10-year-old child since Tuesday, June 9, when the kid went missing.

The heartbroken mum and several distressed residents blamed road contractors for not doing their jobs perfectly, which affected the drainage system.
